दण्डधारवधः | The Slaying of Daṇḍadhāra
प्रतिलभ्य तत: संज्ञां चित्रसेनो महारथ: । धनुश्विच्छेद भल्लेन तं च विव्याध सप्तभि:,तदनन्तर होशमें आकर महारथी चित्रसेनने एक भल्ल्लसे श्रुतकर्माका धनुष काट डाला और उसे भी सात बाणोंसे घायल कर दिया
pratilabhya tataḥ saṃjñāṃ citraseno mahārathaḥ | dhanuś ciccheda bhallena taṃ ca vivyādha saptabhiḥ ||
Sañjaya dijo: Al recobrar el sentido, el gran guerrero de carro Citraseṇa cortó el arco de Śrutakarman con una afilada flecha bhalla, y luego lo hirió también con siete saetas.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights composure and tactical restraint in warfare: once awareness is regained, the warrior acts decisively by disabling the opponent’s weapon (cutting the bow) before inflicting further injury—an illustration of skill directed toward neutralizing threat and asserting battlefield control.
Citraseṇa, having recovered consciousness, shoots a bhalla-arrow to sever Śrutakarman’s bow and immediately follows up by striking Śrutakarman with seven arrows, continuing the duel described by Sañjaya.
