The verse highlights prompt execution of one’s assigned role in a crisis: the charioteer, upon hearing an instruction, acts immediately. In the Mahābhārata’s war setting, such readiness reflects professional duty (svadharma) and the ethical weight of decisions made under pressure.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, after hearing a message/command, the charioteer associated with Mādrī’s son quickly drives the chariot to the location where Droṇa is stationed in the battle array.
