अक्षैश्व बहुधा भग्नैरीषादण्डकबन्धुरै: । कुण्जरैर्मथितैश्वापि ध्वजैश्व विनिपातितैः
akṣaiś ca bahudhā bhagnair īṣādaṇḍaka-bandhuraiḥ | kuñjarair mathitaiś cāpi dhvajaiś ca vinipātitaiḥ ||
Dijo Sañjaya: «El campo estaba sembrado de muchas maneras: carros con los ejes hechos pedazos, yugos y varas de tiro quebrados, elefantes aplastados y destrozados, y estandartes y banderas derribados. Así, los signos del orgullo y del poder quedaron reducidos a ruinas en medio de la violencia incesante de la guerra».
