अन्योन्यं समपश्यन्त निकृत्ता मेदिनीतले । विचेष्टमाना: कृपणा: शोणितेन परिप्लुता:
anyonyam samapaśyanta nikṛttā medinītale | viceṣṭamānāḥ kṛpaṇāḥ śoṇitena pariplutāḥ ||
Sañjaya dijo: Se miraban unos a otros —como si hubieran sido segados en la faz de la tierra— miserables y retorciéndose, empapados en sangre. Aquel cuadro revela el crudo costo moral de la guerra: guerreros reducidos a un sufrimiento lamentable, un recordatorio sombrío de que la victoria en combate es inseparable de una vasta ruina humana.
