Daiva–Puruṣakāra Discourse and the Elephant-Corps Engagement (भीमगजानीक-सम्भ्रान्ति)
ततः शैक्यायसी गुर्वी प्रगृह्दा बलवान् गदाम् । भीमसेनस्ततस्तूर्ण पुप्लुवे मनुजर्षभ,नरश्रेष्ठ तब बलवान भीमसेन पूर्णतः लोहेके सारतत्त्व (फौलाद)-की बनी हुई भारी गदा हाथमें लेकर तुरंत उस रथसे कूद पड़े
tataḥ śaikyāyasī gurvī pragṛhya balavān gadām | bhīmasenas tataḥ tūrṇaṁ pupluve manujarṣabha ||
Sañjaya dijo: Entonces el poderoso Bhīmasena, empuñando una pesada maza forjada de hierro macizo, saltó con presteza del carro—como un toro entre los hombres—dispuesto a apremiar la lucha con su propia fuerza. El instante subraya la resolución del guerrero: en el crisol de la guerra, elige el combate directo, cargando con el peso del arma y de la responsabilidad.
