तामापतन्तीं सहसा हेमपट्टवि भूषिताम् । शरै: पञ्चाशता द्रोणो वारयामास संयुगे,उस स्वर्णपत्रविभूषित गदाको सहसा अपनी ओर आती देख द्रोणाचार्यने युद्धस्थलमें पचासों बाण मारकर उसे दूर गिरा दिया

tām āpatantīṃ sahasā hemapaṭṭavibhūṣitām |
śaraiḥ pañcāśatā droṇo vārayāmāsa saṃyuge ||
Sañjaya dijo: Al verla precipitarse de pronto hacia él, adornada con bandas y ornamentos de oro, Droṇa detuvo su avance en plena batalla, hiriéndola con cincuenta flechas y obligándola a retroceder. La escena subraya la ética del campo de guerra: respuesta inmediata y contención mediante la fuerza; el deber del guerrero es neutralizar con rapidez la amenaza que se abalanza, sin dejarse seducir por la apariencia.
