Nṛga-upākhyāna: Brāhmaṇa-sva and the Consequence of Misappropriated Gift-Cattle

Educational Q&A

Offering shelter and donating a dwelling are praised as high forms of dāna; such generosity yields puṇya that leads to honor and joyful residence in heaven, even in Indra’s company.

In Bhīṣma’s instruction on dharma to the king (Yudhiṣṭhira), he continues describing the spiritual rewards of charitable acts, specifically the giving of shelter and the gift of a house.
