Anuśāsana-parva 17
तेजसामपि यत् तेजस्तपसामपि यत् तपः । शान्तानामपि य: शान्तो द्युतीनामपि या झ्युति:
tejasām api yat tejas tapasām api yat tapaḥ | śāntānām api yaḥ śānto dyutīnām api yā dyutiḥ ||
Vāyu dijo: «Aquel que es el brillo mismo aun entre los brillantes; la austeridad misma aun entre los ascetas; el más sereno aun entre los serenos, y el resplandor entre todo lo que resplandece—él es la excelencia suprema en toda excelencia. De él nacen los mundos y en él se disuelven; él es el Sí mismo de todos los seres. Ahora escucha de mí, oh el mejor de los hombres: proclamaré los mil ocho nombres de ese Señor Śiva, de fulgor inconmensurable. Con sólo oírlos, alcanzarás el cumplimiento de todos tus deseos».
