अर्चेद् देवानदम्भेन सेवेतामायया गुरून् । निर्धि निदध्यात् पारत्र्यं यात्रार्थ दानशब्दितम्
arced devān adambhena sevetāmāyayā gurūn | nidhim nidadhyāt pāratr̥yaṁ yātrārthaṁ dānaśabditam ||
Dijo Bhishma: «Que el hombre adore a los dioses sin hipocresía; que sirva a los mayores y a los maestros sin engaño. Y para el viaje al otro mundo, que acumule un “tesoro” llamado caridad: es decir, que dé con generosidad, buscando el bien que sigue después de la muerte».
