Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament

Educational Q&A

A divine testimony is being offered: the extraordinary event and Śiva–Pārvatī’s dialogue lead the speaker to recognize the addressed figure as the eternal, supreme Person—Brahman in personal form—highlighting reverence, discernment, and the convergence of devotional traditions.

Nārada reports that witnesses were astonished by an inconceivable marvel, and that hearing Śaṅkara’s conversation with Umā—centered on the addressed person—has convinced them of that person’s supreme, eternal status.
