Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
The verse presents a karmic-ethical motif: righteous conduct and accumulated merit (puṇya) yield refined, protected, and fragrant heavenly attainments. The imagery of adornment and auspicious fragrance underscores purity and the elevated status of the reward.
Bhīṣma is describing a splendid celestial vimāna—crowded with divine maidens, ornamented with heavenly jewelry, emitting holy fragrance, and enhanced by Vāyavya power—within a larger discourse on the fruits of virtuous deeds and prescribed dharmic practices.
