Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity

Educational Q&A

Consistent, long-term self-discipline—here, a regulated eating vow maintained for twelve months—is presented as a powerful dharmic practice that generates great merit and auspicious rewards.

In Bhishma’s instruction on dharma and observances, he describes a specific monthly dietary vow and states the फल (result): the practitioner gains plentiful conveyances (yānas/vimānas), symbolizing elevated fortune and blessed passage.
