युगधर्मवर्णनम् — चतुर्युग, गुण, धर्मपाद, तथा वार्तोत्पत्ति

तदा तु सर्वभूतानां कायक्लेशवशात्क्रमात् लोभो भृतिर्वणिग्युद्धं तत्त्वानामविनिश्चयः
Transliteration
tadā tu sarvabhūtānāṃ kāyakleśavaśātkramāt lobho bhṛtirvaṇigyuddhaṃ tattvānāmaviniścayaḥ
Translation
Entonces, para todos los seres, cuando el padecimiento del cuerpo fue imponiéndose poco a poco, surgió la codicia; el sustento se volvió carga; los mercaderes se inclinaron al conflicto; y se perdió el discernimiento de los verdaderos principios (tattva). Así, en ausencia del recto conocimiento, los lazos (pāśa) se apretaron en torno al paśu, el alma individual.
