भविष्य-मन्वन्तराः (अष्टम-चतुर्दश) तथा कल्प-युग-व्यवस्था
नवमो दक्षसावर्णिर् मैत्रेय भविता मनुः
navamo dakṣasāvarṇir maitreya bhavitā manuḥ
O Maitreya, the ninth Manu shall be Dakṣa-sāvarṇi; by Vishnu’s supreme will he will rule that Manvantara and uphold the cosmic order of dharma.
Sage Parāśara
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Enumeration of future Manvantaras and their rulers (Manus)
Teaching: Cosmological
Quality: authoritative
Creation Stage: Manvantara
Manvantara: Daksha-savarni (9th)
Concept: Manu’s sovereignty in each Manvantara is established by Viṣṇu’s supreme will, ensuring the maintenance of ṛta/dharma.
Vedantic Theme: Dharma
Application: Cultivate trust in dharma as a cosmic principle and align personal conduct with ordered duty rather than impulse.
Vishishtadvaita: Viṣṇu as the sovereign inner governor who appoints and empowers cosmic administrators while remaining the transcendent Lord.
Vishnu Form: Narayana (cosmic)
It situates the ninth Manvantara within the Purana’s cosmic chronology, marking a specific era of governance where a Manu presides over dharma, creation’s continuity, and societal order.
Parāśara lists the Manus sequentially, identifying who presides over each Manvantara; this verse is one such identification, spoken directly to Maitreya in the instructional dialogue.
Even when Vishnu is not named in the verse, the Vishnu Purana frames Manvantara rule as operating under Vishnu’s supreme sovereignty—Manu functions as an instrument of the divine order.
