This verse identifies the current aeon as the Vārāha Kalpa, grounding the Purana’s chronology in a Vishnu-centered cosmic calendar where the present creation cycle is named after Varāha.
Parāśara situates the present time within the latter half of the second major division of Brahmā’s lifespan, using parārdha to indicate a precise placement in vast cosmic time.
By naming the present kalpa after Varāha, the text subtly affirms Vishnu’s supreme governance of cosmic order—creation is not merely temporal mechanics but unfolds under Vishnu’s decisive interventions.
