ayaṃ yo varttate brahmā śatānanda iti śrutaḥ | tasya caivāṣṭame varṣe manuryaḥ prathamo bhavet

Īśvara (Śiva)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra (contextual frame)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Devī
Scene: A didactic tableau: Śiva explains cosmic administration—Brahmā named Śatānanda and the arising of the first Manu—while Devī listens; subtle cosmic motifs (lotus, time-wheel) appear behind them.
The Purāṇas locate sacred events within ordered cosmic administrations, showing Dharma unfolding through divinely governed epochs.
The chronology is part of the Somanātha (Prabhāsa Kṣetra) account, grounding the shrine’s legend in cosmic time.
None; the verse provides cosmological-historical placement.
