अनुग्रहार्थं लोकानां प्रादुर्भूता पुनःपुनः । आद्ये कल्पे जगन्माता जगद्योनिर्द्वितीयके
anugrahārthaṃ lokānāṃ prādurbhūtā punaḥpunaḥ | ādye kalpe jaganmātā jagadyonirdvitīyake
For the sake of showing grace to the worlds, you manifest again and again. In the first kalpa you were known as ‘Mother of the Universe’; in the second, as ‘Womb/Source of the Universe.’
Īśvara (Śiva)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mahādevī (Devī)
Scene: A sequence tableau: Devī appearing repeatedly to aid worlds; two highlighted forms—Jagadmātā nurturing beings, and Jagadyoni as the luminous source from which creation unfolds.
The Goddess manifests repeatedly out of compassion; her names reveal functions—nurturing as Mother and generating as Source.
Prabhāsa Kṣetra is the textual setting; the māhātmya frames these revelations as part of the kṣetra’s sacred discourse.
None stated; the verse supports devotional remembrance of Devī’s names (nāma-smaraṇa).
