तीर्थानां दर्शनं श्रेष्ठं स्नानं चैव सुरेश्वरि । श्रवणं च प्रशंसंति सदैव ऋषिसत्तमाः
tīrthānāṃ darśanaṃ śreṣṭhaṃ snānaṃ caiva sureśvari | śravaṇaṃ ca praśaṃsaṃti sadaiva ṛṣisattamāḥ
Among the tīrthas, their very sight is best; bathing there too, O Lady of the gods. And the foremost sages ever praise also the hearing of their glories.
Īśvara (Śiva)
Listener: Sureśvarī/Devī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Śiva teaches Devī the primacy of tīrtha-darśana, along with snāna and śravaṇa, while sages in the background affirm the teaching.
Pilgrimage merit arises through three modes—darśana (seeing), snāna (bathing), and śravaṇa (hearing the tīrtha’s glory).
No single site; the verse states a general doctrine applicable to all tīrthas.
Darśana (visit), snāna (ritual bath), and śravaṇa (listening to māhātmya) are highlighted as praised practices.
