aṣṭau putrāndadau tasmai kanyāṃ caikāṃ yaśasvinīm | sa tu prāpyābhilaṣitaṃ kṛtakṛtyo narādhipaḥ
He granted him eight sons, and also one illustrious daughter. Having obtained what he desired, that lord of men felt his purpose fulfilled.
Śiva (addressing Pārvatī)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Pārvatī
Scene: Śiva grants a boon; the scene shifts to the royal household blessed with eight sons and one daughter, with the king’s serene fulfillment emphasized.
When devotion ripens into divine favor, legitimate worldly aims (like progeny) can be fulfilled without violating dharma.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra, presented as a place where Śiva’s grace quickly bears fruit.
No separate rite is detailed here; it records the fruit (phala) of Śaṅkara worship—progeny and fulfillment.
