Having duly satisfied (the guests/brāhmaṇas) with devotion according to rule, one should then give honoraria (dakṣiṇā) according to one’s capacity—cows, land, gold, garments, as well as betel (tāmbūla) and fruits.
Narrator (contextual; within Dvārakā Māhātmya discourse)
Tirtha: Cakratīrtha (contextual)
Type: ghat
Scene: Following the meal, the host respectfully offers dakṣiṇā: a cow led forward, folded cloth garments, a small gold piece, fruits and betel leaves arranged on a tray; brāhmaṇas bless the donor.
Dharma is fulfilled through devotion and proper procedure, especially by giving according to one’s means after respectfully satisfying worthy recipients.
The broader context is Dvārakā Māhātmya (Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa), connected with Kārtika observances and Cakratīrtha-related merits in this chapter.
After ritual hospitality/satisfaction (saṃtarpana), give dakṣiṇā—cows, land, gold, clothing, betel, and fruits—according to capacity.
