एवमुक्त्वा द्विजश्रेष्ठो गोमतीतीरमाश्रितः । उपस्पृश्य यथान्यायं शास्त्रदृष्टेन कर्मणा
evamuktvā dvijaśreṣṭho gomatītīramāśritaḥ | upaspṛśya yathānyāyaṃ śāstradṛṣṭena karmaṇā
Having spoken thus, the best of the twice-born went to the bank of the Gomati and, according to proper rule, performed the prescribed purificatory act (ācamana and the like) as enjoined in the śāstras.
