श्रीप्रह्लाद उवाच । कृष्णाय रुक्मिणीं दातुं यदा भीष्मक उद्यतः । तद्द्वेषात्क्रोधसंयुक्तो रुक्मी चैद्यममन्यत
śrīprahlāda uvāca | kṛṣṇāya rukmiṇīṃ dātuṃ yadā bhīṣmaka udyataḥ | taddveṣātkrodhasaṃyukto rukmī caidyamamanyata
Śrī Prahlāda said: When Bhīṣmaka was ready to give Rukmiṇī to Kṛṣṇa, Rukmī—joined to wrath born of that hatred—regarded (Kṛṣṇa) as an enemy.
Śrīprahlāda
Tirtha: Dvārakā (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Brāhmaṇas (dvijāḥ)
Scene: Courtly tension in Vidarbha: Bhīṣmaka’s resolve to give Rukmiṇī to Kṛṣṇa; Rukmī’s face dark with anger, nobles watching, omens of conflict.
Attachment and jealousy can turn sacred family events into conflict; Purāṇas trace how such passions are later resolved under divine order.
Dvārakā, as the narrative background for Kṛṣṇa’s presence and the later gate-worship tradition.
No direct ritual is prescribed here; it provides the narrative cause leading to the established worship practice.
