vidyāyāśca prabhāvena jīvayāmāsa tānmuniḥ | tasyāgre'sminmahākuṇḍaṃ nirmalaṃ pāpanāśanam
By the power of that vidyā, the sage restored them to life. Before him here lies the great Mahākuṇḍa, stainless and holy, the destroyer of sins.
Pulastya
Tirtha: Mahākuṇḍa
Type: kund
Listener: Nṛpasattama (unnamed king)
Scene: Śukra, empowered by Śiva’s vidyā, revives fallen Dānavas; in the foreground shines Mahākuṇḍa—clear, luminous water with lotus blooms—proclaimed sin-destroying.
Sacred knowledge and sacred geography work together: vidyā revives bodies, while tīrtha purifies karma.
Mahākuṇḍa—described as nirmala (pure) and pāpa-nāśana (sin-destroying).
Implicitly introduces the tīrtha; the next verse specifies snāna (bathing) and śrāddha as key acts.
