Whoever, with focused mind, sweeps before Him—however many particles of dust are there, for just so many hundreds of years does he rejoice, dwelling in Viṣṇu’s world. Of this there is no doubt.
Narrator/Ṛṣi addressing the King (contextual speaker within Arbuda Khaṇḍa)
Tirtha: Hṛṣīkeśa
Type: kshetra
Listener: nṛpa (king)
Scene: A devotee sweeps the temple forecourt before Hṛṣīkeśa, dust motes rising in sunbeams; the deity’s presence is felt from the sanctum; the scene emphasizes humility and luminous particles.
Humble service like cleaning a sacred space is highly meritorious and leads to exalted posthumous joy in Viṣṇu’s realm.
The immediate precinct ‘before Him’—the Hṛṣīkeśa shrine area—where even dust becomes a measure of merit.
Saṃmārjana: sweeping/cleaning in front of the deity with a concentrated mind.
