तीर्थान्यूचुः । कथं वयं भविष्यामः संप्राप्ते दारुणे कलौ । स्थानं नो ब्रूहि देवेश स्थातव्यं च सदैव हि
tīrthānyūcuḥ | kathaṃ vayaṃ bhaviṣyāmaḥ saṃprāpte dāruṇe kalau | sthānaṃ no brūhi deveśa sthātavyaṃ ca sadaiva hi
The tīrthas said: “How shall we endure when the dreadful Kali has arrived? O Lord of the gods, tell us a place where we may dwell—indeed, where we may remain always.”
Tīrthas (personified sacred places)
Tirtha: Arbuda (requested refuge)
Type: kshetra
Scene: Personified tīrthas, worried and humble, address Brahmā with folded hands, asking for a permanent dwelling safe from Kali’s harshness.
It highlights that sanctity needs protection and proper dwelling; sacred power is sustained where dharma can be preserved.
The verse asks for the protected abode; the answer given next is Mount Arbuda.
None directly; it is a request for a permanent sacred residence for tīrthas.
