trailokye yāni tīrthāni gaṃgādyāḥ saritastathā | teṣāṃ sa phalamāpnoti koṭitīrthāvagāhanāt
Whatever sacred fords exist in the three worlds—and the holy rivers beginning with the Gaṅgā—one attains the fruit of them all simply by bathing at Koṭitīrtha.
Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta) to the sages (deduced)
Tirtha: Koṭitīrtha
Type: ghat
Listener: Pārtha
Scene: Pilgrims bathe at a luminous ford named Koṭitīrtha; above the waters appear symbolic streams of Gaṅgā and other celestial rivers, suggesting ‘all tīrthas gathered’ into one confluence.
A supremely sanctified tīrtha can concentrate the merit of many pilgrimages into a single act of reverent bathing.
Koṭitīrtha is exalted as equal in fruit to all tīrthas and even famed rivers like the Gaṅgā.
Avagāhana—ritual bathing/immersion at Koṭitīrtha.
