यदि तुष्टोऽसि देवेश यदि देयो वरो मम । सांनिध्यं क्रियतामत्र सर्वकालं हि शंकर
yadi tuṣṭo'si deveśa yadi deyo varo mama | sāṃnidhyaṃ kriyatāmatra sarvakālaṃ hi śaṃkara
“If you are pleased, O Lord of gods, and if a boon is to be granted to me—then, O Śaṅkara, establish your abiding presence here for all time.”
Kumārī (addressing Śiva)
Tirtha: Barkareśa (implied)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Kurūsattama
Scene: Kumārī petitions Śaṅkara: ‘If pleased, grant me this—abide here forever.’ Śiva listens with compassionate stillness.
The highest boon is not personal gain but the establishment of enduring divine presence that benefits all beings across time.
The “here” indicates the soon-to-be-consecrated Barkareśa Śiva-site, made eternal through Śiva’s granted presence.
The verse implicitly grounds a shrine’s sanctity: requesting and receiving Śiva’s perpetual sannidhya, which supports later worship and pilgrimage.
