चंद्रज्योत्स्नाभिसंपृक्ता तामसी रजनी यथा । रजनी वा सिते पक्षे दृष्टिदोषं ददासि मे
caṃdrajyotsnābhisaṃpṛktā tāmasī rajanī yathā | rajanī vā site pakṣe dṛṣṭidoṣaṃ dadāsi me
You are like a dark night mingled with moonlight, or like a night within the bright fortnight. O fair one, you cast a blemish upon my sight.
Śiva (Śarva)
Listener: Pārvatī
Scene: Śiva compares Devī to moonlit darkness and to ‘night in the bright fortnight,’ then teasingly says she causes a blemish in his sight—suggesting dazzling contrast and playful banter.
Perception is easily colored by emotion; dharma urges clarity of mind before judging another.
None is named; the focus is interpersonal dialogue within the Śaiva narrative.
No vrata, dāna, snāna, or japa is prescribed in this verse.
