skaṃda uvāca | sarvajñasya kumāratvātkiṃcitkiṃcidavaimyaham | rodane kāraṇaṃ vacmi śṛṇu kuṃbhasamudbhava
Skanda said: “Because the All-knowing One assumed childhood, I grasp it only a little, little by little. Yet I shall tell the cause of that weeping—listen, O Pot-born one.”
Skanda
Listener: Agastya (Kumbhasambhava)
Scene: Skanda, youthful yet radiant, addresses Agastya (the pot-born sage), confessing the mystery of divine childhood and promising to explain the cause of weeping; a quiet hermitage or Kāśī setting implied.
Even exalted teachers present knowledge with humility; Purāṇic wisdom is shared as a guided unfolding rather than mere display of omniscience.
The Kāśīkhaṇḍa framework implies Kāśī’s sanctity, but this verse is primarily pedagogical.
