Having thus taken leave of the teacher—and being told “So be it” by him—one should escort him up to the boundary of the place, and also give gifts to others according to one’s capacity.
Skanda (deduced, Kāśīkhaṇḍa context) to Agastya
Tirtha: Kāśī-kṣetra (general vrata context)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya (frame implied)
Scene: A pilgrim bows to an ācārya in Kāśī, receives blessing, then respectfully escorts him to the boundary gate/ghāṭ approach, distributing small gifts to attendants and the poor.
Dharma is not only ritual; it is also gratitude and service—honouring the guide and sharing merit through charitable giving.
The Kāśī-khaṇḍa frame remains in view; the verse highlights social dharma (honouring ācārya and dāna) rather than a named tīrtha.
Take formal leave, receive the ācārya’s assent, escort him to the boundary, and give additional gifts to others as one is able.
