Transliteration

nirdagdhānsāgarāñchrutvā kapilakrodhavahninā | aśvamedhāśvasaṃyuktānpūrvajānsvānbhagīrathaḥ

Translation

Hearing that his own forefathers—the Sāgaras, connected with the horse of the Aśvamedha—had been burned by the fire of Kapila’s wrath, Bhagīratha set his mind upon their deliverance.
