न खल्वयमृतोंऽडस्थ इति स्नेहादभाषत । तदा प्रभृति लोकेयं मार्तंड इति चोच्यते
na khalvayamṛtoṃ'ḍastha iti snehādabhāṣata | tadā prabhṛti lokeyaṃ mārtaṃḍa iti cocyate
Out of affection she said, “Surely he is not dead within the egg.” From that time onward, in this world he came to be known as Mārtaṇḍa.
