Then one should donate a golden image, together with a fitting dakṣiṇā. After that, one should give sesame seeds in charity, for the attainment of full longevity and its well-established repute.

The verse presents dāna (sacred giving) as an auxiliary limb of Shaiva worship: offering a gold icon with dakṣiṇā and then tila-dāna purifies intent, supports dharma, and is praised as conducive to the fruition of blessings such as steadiness of life (āyuṣya) and auspicious standing.
In Saguna Shiva worship, outer acts like pūjā, dakṣiṇā, and dāna strengthen devotion and humility; these supports harmonize the devotee’s conduct with the reverence offered to Shiva’s manifest form (including the Liṅga), helping the worship mature toward inner purity.
A practical takeaway is to complete Shiva-pūjā with dakṣiṇā to worthy recipients and perform tila-dāna (sesame charity), traditionally linked with śānti and longevity; this is best done with a prayerful Shiva-bhāva and remembrance of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) if one follows this section’s devotional framework.
