Pārthiva-pratimā Pūjā-vidhāna — Procedure for Worship of an Earthen Icon
कृपयांतर्गतैश्वर्यं पूजकस्य ददाति हि । तस्मादंतर्गतानंदलाभार्थं मुनिपुंगवाः
kṛpayāṃtargataiśvaryaṃ pūjakasya dadāti hi | tasmādaṃtargatānaṃdalābhārthaṃ munipuṃgavāḥ
Out of compassion, Lord Śiva indeed bestows upon the worshipper inner lordliness, the sovereignty of the spirit within. Therefore, O foremost of sages, worship for the attainment of the bliss (ānanda) that arises inwardly.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Emphasizes that Śiva’s grace culminates as inner aiśvarya (spiritual sovereignty) and antargata-ānanda; pilgrimage/external worship is validated insofar as it ripens into inward realization.
Role: liberating
The verse emphasizes Śiva’s anugraha (grace): true “aiśvarya” is not worldly control but inner sovereignty—steadiness, purity, and self-mastery—culminating in antargata ānanda (inward bliss), a hallmark of liberation-oriented devotion in Shaiva Siddhanta.
Linga-pūjā to Saguna Śiva is presented as a compassionate doorway: by worshipping the manifest form with devotion, the devotee is led inward toward the subtle presence of Śiva, where the fruit is experienced as internal bliss rather than merely external boons.
Perform Linga-pūjā with bhakti and then turn inward—japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and quiet meditation on Śiva in the heart—seeking antargata ānanda rather than only material results.
