On the anniversary of one’s birth, one should perform in worship the excellent birth-offering (naivedya). Likewise, in the intervening months too—on the day of one’s birth-star (janma-nakṣatra) and on a day when an auspicious yoga is complete.

It teaches that devotion to Pati (Shiva) is strengthened through sacred time—regularly sanctifying one’s life-cycle (birth anniversary, birth-star days) by offering naivedya, turning personal milestones into Shiva-centered bhakti and purification.
Naivedya is offered to Saguna Shiva—often to the Shiva-linga—as a concrete act of reverence; by repeating it on auspicious calendrical markers, the devotee maintains steady sambandha (devotional relationship) with Shiva through ritual presence.
Perform Shiva-puja with an excellent naivedya on one’s birthday and monthly on one’s janma-nakshatra and auspicious yoga days; accompany it with mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’) and simple purity observances.
