शक्तितत्त्ववर्णनम् / Exposition of the Principle of Śakti
अयोग्यानां च कारुण्याद्भक्तानां परमेश्वरः । प्रसीदति न संदेहो विगृह्य विविधान्मलान्
ayogyānāṃ ca kāruṇyādbhaktānāṃ parameśvaraḥ | prasīdati na saṃdeho vigṛhya vividhānmalān
Out of compassion even for the unfit, the Supreme Lord (Parameśvara) becomes gracious toward His devotees—of this there is no doubt—seizing and removing their various impurities.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Explicitly articulates the Siddhānta mechanism of liberation: Parameśvara’s compassion removes ‘vividhān malān’ (impurities/bondages). Pilgrimage and worship are thus framed as occasions that invite prasāda leading to mala-kṣaya.
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It highlights Shiva’s anugraha (grace): even those lacking qualification are uplifted when devotion awakens, because Parameśvara removes the devotee’s inner malas (impurities) that obstruct right knowledge and liberation.
Linga/Saguna worship trains the mind in surrender and steadiness; through such bhakti, Shiva becomes prasanna (gracious) and purifies the devotee, making them fit for deeper realization of Shiva beyond form.
Sincere bhakti supported by japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and purity disciplines (e.g., Tripuṇḍra bhasma and Rudrāksha with right conduct) is implied as the means by which impurities are removed through Shiva’s grace.
