उपमन्युतपः-निवारणप्रसङ्गः / Śiva restrains Upamanyu’s tapas (Śiva disguised as Indra)
अजरश्चामरश्चैव भव त्वन्दुःखवर्जितः । यशस्वी तेजसा युक्तो दिव्यज्ञानसमन्वितः
ajaraścāmaraścaiva bhava tvanduḥkhavarjitaḥ | yaśasvī tejasā yukto divyajñānasamanvitaḥ
Be ever youthful and deathless, free from sorrow. Be renowned, endowed with spiritual radiance, and possessed of divine knowledge.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīya discourse to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: anugraha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: liberating
It presents Shiva’s grace as the remover of duḥkha (bondage-born sorrow) and the giver of divya-jñāna, by which the soul moves toward the Siddhānta goal: freedom from pāśa and steadiness in the light of Pati (Shiva).
Such blessings are traditionally sought through Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-pūjā—where devotion, purity, and right understanding mature into jñāna and inner tejas, culminating in Shiva’s anugraha (saving grace).
Regular Shiva-upāsanā with the Panchākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and meditative contemplation on Shiva as the dispeller of sorrow supports the cultivation of tejas and the awakening of divya-jñāna.
