शिशुकस्य शिवशास्त्रप्राप्तिः (Śiśuka’s Attainment of Śaiva Teaching and Grace)
अन्यान्देवान्परित्यज्य कर्मणा मनसा गिरा । तमेव सांबं सगणं भज भावपुरस्सरम्
anyāndevānparityajya karmaṇā manasā girā | tameva sāṃbaṃ sagaṇaṃ bhaja bhāvapurassaram
Abandoning all other deities, worship Him alone—Śiva with Umā and with His gaṇas—by deed, by mind, and by speech, placing wholehearted devotion in the forefront.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Teaches ekānta-bhakti (single-point devotion) to Śiva with Umā; in Siddhānta terms, turning from subsidiary devatā-upāsanā to Pati-upāsanā is a movement out of tirodhāna toward eligibility for anugraha.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It teaches ananya-bhakti (single-hearted devotion): liberation-oriented worship becomes complete when one centers all action, thought, and speech on Pati—Lord Śiva—placing bhāva (devotional intention) above mere outer performance.
By praising “Śiva with Umā and His gaṇas,” the verse supports Saguna upāsanā—approaching Shiva in a personal, worshipable form (commonly through the Śiva-liṅga), while insisting that the inner offering of mind and speech must accompany external ritual.
Practice integrated worship: perform pūjā (karma), japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” (girā), and dhyāna on Śiva-Śakti (manasā), keeping bhāva foremost; optionally support with bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as Shaiva disciplines.
