Śiva’s Boon to Viśvakarman and the Manifestation of Devī
Bhavānī/Parāśakti
यस्यां न खलु विद्यंते जन्म मृत्युजरादयः । या भवानी भवस्यांगात्समाविरभवत्किल
yasyāṃ na khalu vidyaṃte janma mṛtyujarādayaḥ | yā bhavānī bhavasyāṃgātsamāvirabhavatkila
In her, indeed, there are no conditions such as birth, death, old age, and the like. She—Bhavānī—manifested, it is said, from the very body (limb) of Bhava (Lord Śiva).

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Bhavānī
Role: liberating
The verse affirms Bhavānī’s transcendence over saṁsāric limitations—birth, death, and decay—indicating her divine, beginningless nature as Śiva’s inseparable Śakti, the power through which liberation is attained.
It supports Saguna worship by presenting Śiva (Bhava) together with his manifest power, Bhavānī; Linga worship is thus not merely of a form, but of Pati united with Śakti—the complete reality that grants grace and mokṣa.
A practical takeaway is to worship Śiva with Śakti—reciting the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with devotion while meditating on freedom from birth and death, and, where traditional, honoring Śiva with bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as aids to steadiness in sādhana.
