Then those servants, exerting themselves with all their might, hurled them onto the swing. As they were swung with tremendous speed, they lost consciousness and were carried for a yojana’s distance.

Tattva Level: pashu
It depicts the helplessness of the bound soul (paśu) when driven by forces of bondage (pāśa)—here symbolized by attendants and violent motion—until grace and right knowledge restore stability; in Shaiva Siddhanta, only Pati (Shiva) ultimately releases the soul from such compulsions.
The verse contrasts uncontrolled, externally driven experience with the steadiness gained through taking refuge in Saguna Shiva—worship of the Linga centers the mind and aligns the devotee with Shiva’s protecting, liberating power (anugraha), countering the turbulence of bondage.
A practical takeaway is cultivating steadiness through japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and regular Linga-puja; these practices pacify mental ‘velocity’ and support Shiva-oriented recollection rather than unconscious, compulsive drifting.
