Umāyāḥ Kriyāyoga-Rahasya
The Esoteric Teaching on Umā’s Kriyāyoga

bhaktiyogo mato devyā ātmanaścaikyabhāvanam | trayāṇāmapi yogānāṃ kriyāyogassa ucyate
The Goddess teaches that Bhakti-yoga is the contemplation of oneness between the individual self and the Supreme Self (Paramātman). And this too is called Kriyā-yoga, for it integrates the three yogas as one harmonious discipline.

It defines true devotion as an inner realization—cultivating unity between the soul and the Supreme—showing that bhakti is not mere emotion but a transformative discipline that leads toward liberation under Shaiva understanding.
Linga and Saguna worship become effective when they mature into inner aikya-bhāvanā (oneness-contemplation). External worship supports the inward movement from form-based devotion to direct recognition of Shiva as the Supreme Reality.
A practical takeaway is to combine daily Shiva-puja (kriyā) with steady japa—especially of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—and meditation on Shiva’s presence as the inner Self, so devotion becomes continuous contemplation.
