She too went to her father’s presence. Overwhelmed with motherly affection for her son, that virtuous lady kept recalling her son’s deeds and spoke aloud of her own good fortune.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Highlights smṛti (recollection) and bhāva (affective devotion) as inner pilgrimage; the mother’s attachment also illustrates the binding power of affection (a subtle pāśa) that grace later transforms.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
The verse highlights smaraṇa (devotional remembrance): recalling the deeds of the divinely connected one purifies the mind and strengthens bhakti, turning ordinary affection into a sanctifying, God-oriented emotion within Shaiva dharma.
By praising and remembering the deeds of Shiva’s divine household, the devotee is led toward saguna-upāsanā—approaching Shiva through His manifest relations and līlā—supporting steady devotion that culminates in deeper contemplation of Shiva as Pati (the Lord).
Practice nāma-smaraṇa and līlā-smaraṇa—mentally recount Shiva-related deeds with reverence; this can be paired with japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” as a focused daily remembrance.
