Account of the Birth/Origin of Vyāsa
पराशर उवाच । शृणु प्रिये तवाभीष्टं सर्वं पूर्णं भविष्यति । विष्ण्वंशसंभवः पुत्रो भविता ते महायशाः
parāśara uvāca | śṛṇu priye tavābhīṣṭaṃ sarvaṃ pūrṇaṃ bhaviṣyati | viṣṇvaṃśasaṃbhavaḥ putro bhavitā te mahāyaśāḥ
Parāśara said: “Listen, beloved—everything you desire shall be fulfilled in full. A son of great renown, born from the lineage of Viṣṇu, will be born to you.”
Parashara
Tattva Level: pati
It emphasizes assurance (āśvāsana) and grace: the devotee’s rightful intention is fulfilled through divine order, showing that outcomes mature when aligned with dharma and the higher will—an idea consistent with Shaiva Siddhanta’s stress on anugraha (Śiva’s enabling grace).
Though the verse is a prophecy, it supports Saguna devotion by portraying a personal, responsive sacred cosmos: prayers, vows, and worship offered to Śiva (often through the Liṅga) culminate in tangible blessings, while Śiva remains the ultimate governor behind all lineages and destinies.
A practical takeaway is steadfast vrata and mantra-japa with faith—especially pañcākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya")—seeking fulfillment through purity of intent; if performing worship, one may add tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as supportive Shaiva disciplines.
