छिद्रदर्शी सुनेत्रस्तु वेदवेदांगपारगौ । जातौ श्रोत्रियदायादौ पूर्वजातिसहाषितौ
chidradarśī sunetrastu vedavedāṃgapāragau | jātau śrotriyadāyādau pūrvajātisahāṣitau
Chidradarśī and Sunetra—both well-versed in the Vedas and the Vedāṅgas—were born as heirs of learned brāhmaṇas, and they spoke together as if recalling their former births.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; the stress is on śruti mastery and memory of prior births—markers of saṃskāra and grace enabling knowledge.
Role: teaching
It highlights the Shaiva understanding that saṃskāras and karmic tendencies can carry across births, enabling spiritual maturity—such as scriptural mastery and intuitive recognition—to reappear in a new life under Shiva’s overarching governance as Pati.
By stressing continuity of inner impressions, the verse supports the Purāṇic teaching that sustained Saguna Shiva worship—Linga-sevā, mantra, and dharma—bears fruit over multiple births until the soul becomes fit for Shiva’s grace and liberation.
Consistent daily japa of the Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with disciplined dharma and scriptural study is implied as the kind of practice whose results can mature across lifetimes.
