Pitṛ-sarga and the Greatness of Śrāddha: The Inquiry
तस्मिन्विमाने पर्यक्षं ज्वलितांगारवर्चसम् । महातेजः प्रज्वलंतं निर्विशेषं मनोहरम्
tasminvimāne paryakṣaṃ jvalitāṃgāravarcasam | mahātejaḥ prajvalaṃtaṃ nirviśeṣaṃ manoharam
Within that celestial vimāna, there appeared a wondrous Presence—radiant like blazing embers—of immense splendor, fiercely shining, without any distinguishing marks, yet utterly enchanting.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the ‘nirviśeṣa’ blazing presence functions as a theophany of the transcendent Lord beyond attributes.
It points to Shiva as the supreme Pati who can be intuited as sheer effulgence—beyond limiting characteristics (nirviśeṣa)—yet experienced as profoundly attractive to the purified mind, indicating the meeting of transcendence and grace.
The verse describes an attribute-transcending radiance, which aligns with the Linga principle: a support for contemplation where form points beyond itself, guiding the devotee from saguna worship toward realization of Shiva’s nirviśeṣa, limitless nature.
Meditate on Shiva as inner light—steady attention on a luminous presence beyond mental labels—supported by japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and, where traditional, Tripuṇḍra-bhasma and Rudrāksha as aids to focused devotion.
