praviṣṭe tu manau tāta divākaratanuṃ tadā | daśadhā tatra tatkṣetramakarotpṛthivīṃ manuḥ
O dear one, when Manu entered the solar-bodied form (the region of the Sun) then, he there divided that land into ten parts and duly organized the earth into those ten domains.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Ishana
Role: creative
It portrays dharmic order as a sacred act: by dividing and organizing the earth, Manu mirrors the cosmic harmony upheld under Shiva’s supreme governance (Pati), where worldly structure supports spiritual progress.
Though not directly about the Linga, it supports the Shaiva view that Saguna Shiva sustains the universe through lawful order; righteous administration and division of lands become expressions of devotion to the divine order Shiva embodies.
The practical takeaway is dharma-sādhana: daily discipline, truthfulness, and orderly living as a form of worship. In Shaiva practice, this is commonly paired with japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to align personal life with cosmic order.
