सृष्टिविस्तारप्रश्नः (Sṛṣṭi-vistāra-praśnaḥ) — The Detailed Inquiry into Creation
एतान्सृष्टांस्तु तान्दृष्ट्वा नारदः प्राह वै मुनिः । सर्वं स तु समुत्पन्नो नारदः परमेष्ठिनः
etānsṛṣṭāṃstu tāndṛṣṭvā nāradaḥ prāha vai muniḥ | sarvaṃ sa tu samutpanno nāradaḥ parameṣṭhinaḥ
Seeing those beings that had been created, the sage Nārada spoke. Indeed, Nārada—who had arisen entirely from Parameṣṭhin (Brahmā)—addressed them.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Purana’s account, describing Nārada’s action)
Tattva Level: pashu
Role: teaching
The verse establishes Nārada as a divinely empowered teacher, born from Brahmā, who guides created beings toward dharma and ultimately toward recognizing Pati (Śiva) as the supreme liberator.
By introducing Nārada as the instructing sage within the creation narrative, the text prepares the ground for transmitted worship—where devotion to Saguna Śiva (often through the Liṅga) is learned through lineage and scriptural instruction rather than mere speculation.
The immediate takeaway is śravaṇa and guru-upadeśa (listening to sacred instruction). In Shaiva practice this commonly culminates in japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) under guidance, supported by disciplined conduct.
