Kṛṣṇādi-Śivabhaktoddhāraṇa & Śiva-māhātmya-varṇana
Deliverance of Krishna and other devotees; Description of Shiva’s Greatness
दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरं भक्तिनम्रैस्सुरासुरैः । प्रणतं च विशेषेण नानाभूषणभूषितम्
divyamālyāmbaradharaṃ bhaktinamraissurāsuraiḥ | praṇataṃ ca viśeṣeṇa nānābhūṣaṇabhūṣitam
He was clad in divine garlands and heavenly garments, and the devas and asuras—humbled by devotion—bowed to Him. In a special manner He was reverently worshipped, adorned with many kinds of ornaments.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
The verse highlights Shiva as the Supreme Pati who draws all beings—devas and asuras alike—into humility through bhakti; surrender (praṇāma) before the Lord is presented as the doorway to grace and inner purification.
By describing divine garments, garlands, and ornaments, the verse emphasizes Saguna Shiva—Shiva approachable through form and devotion—supporting temple and Linga worship where devotees offer flowers, garlands, and reverent salutations as outward signs of inner surrender.
Practice devoted praṇāma to Shiva (prostration with remembrance), and offer flowers/garlands with the attitude of humility; mentally contemplate Shiva’s auspicious form while repeating a Shiva mantra such as the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
