भैरवावतारलीलावर्णनम् (Bhairava-avatāra-līlā-varṇanam) — “Narration of the Divine Play of Bhairava’s Descent”
अर्घीव ब्रह्मणो ह्यस्थ्नां स्रक्कण्ठे तव भासते । तथाद्यनुगता शम्भो ब्रह्महत्या तवानघ
arghīva brahmaṇo hyasthnāṃ srakkaṇṭhe tava bhāsate | tathādyanugatā śambho brahmahatyā tavānagha
O Śambhu, on Your neck there shines, as it were, a garland made from Brahmā’s bones. And even now, O sinless One, the stigma of brahma-hatyā appears to cling to You—though in essence You remain ever stainless.
Suta Goswami (narrating the episode to the sages, describing words addressed to Shiva)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Kaṅkālamūrti
It highlights a key Shaiva insight: Śiva may appear to bear the marks of worldly karma (like Brahmahatyā), yet as Pati—the supreme Lord—He remains intrinsically pure and untouched, teaching devotees to seek liberation beyond external appearances.
Saguna Śiva is worshipped with form and attributes, including fierce and ascetic symbols. This verse frames those symbols (like bone/skull imagery) as sacred signs of His cosmic role, guiding the devotee from form-based devotion toward recognition of His stainless, transcendent nature.
Meditate on Śiva as both the bearer of the world’s burdens and the ever-pure Lord; in practice, worship with vibhūti (Tripuṇḍra) and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to internalize purity beyond karmic fear.
