Nandikeśvara: Incarnation, Consecration, and Marriage—Description
य इदन्नन्दिनो जन्म वरदानन्तथा मम । अभिषेकं विवाहं च शृणुयाच्छ्रावयेत्तथा
ya idannandino janma varadānantathā mama | abhiṣekaṃ vivāhaṃ ca śṛṇuyācchrāvayettathā
Whoever listens to—or causes others to listen to—this sacred account of Nandin’s birth, the boon granted by me, and also his consecration (abhiṣeka) and marriage, is thereby blessed.
Lord Shiva (phalaśruti-style statement within the narration)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Phalaśruti: śravaṇa/śrāvaṇa of Nandin’s sacred narrative is presented as a merit-producing act that ripens into Śiva’s grace (anugraha) and auspiciousness.
This is a phalaśruti teaching that elevates śravaṇa (devotional listening) and śrāvaṇa (making others hear) as powerful acts of bhakti—linking remembrance of Shiva’s grace (boon-giving) and Nandin’s sanctified life to spiritual merit and inner purification.
Nandin is the foremost Śiva-bhakta and attendant of Saguna Shiva; hearing his consecration and marriage is presented as a devotional vrata-like act that strengthens personal relationship with Shiva as the gracious Lord (Pati) who blesses and uplifts devotees.
The implied practice is regular Shiva-kathā śravaṇa/paṭhana—listening, reciting, and sharing this chapter as a devotional observance, especially on Shiva days (e.g., Mahāśivarātri), as an act of bhakti and remembrance of Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
